Do I just have to talk to the lender or do I need to mention payday lending is prohibited in the state of PA? I was not aware this was prohibited in PA. How do I handle this? Thank You

Payday lending is strictly prohibited in the state of PA; especially, check cashers are specifically prohibited from making payday loans, otherwise, Consumer Discount Company Act applies.

However, small loans (rate cap) can be advanced ($9.50 per $100 per year interest, plus service charge of $1.50 per $100 per year.)

You may talk to the lender first and tell him that you know the law. Request to give you a refund if you have already paid more than what you should actually.

Otherwise, file a complaint against them with the office of the state attorney general

Hope this helps!
