I received a call from a payday lender stating that they are going to file federal criminal cyber crime charges against me for non-repayment of debt. Can they really do this?

You can’t be charged with criminal charges even if you have failed to make payments towards the payday loan that you took legally as this is not a criminal offense rather a civil offense and can only be elucidated through a court.
