I took a payday loan 8 years ago and never paid it back. Last week I received a call from an arbitrator saying I had to pay them right then or they'd initiate a bench warrant.

The thing I'm concerned with is someone perhaps trying to scam you out. If you took the loan 8 years ago, I think the SOL period is already past and in such an occasion a collection agency can sue you but cannot get a judgment against you. And, by no means a collection agency is authorized to initiate a bench warrant. You should reach out to your state regulatory officials to submit a complaint.

The thing I'm concerned with is that someone might be trying to scam you out. Since already 8 years have passed, I am sure the SOL has already passed and now a collector can sue you for the debt but cannot win and collect. Moreover, a collection agecny is not authorized to initiate a bench warrant.
