I think I am being contacted by few debt collectors, to whom I actually don't owe money. Can you tell me some ways in which I can spot a fake debt collector?

There are plenty of ways to spot a fake debt collector.

1. Check if the alleged account is there on your credit report

2. Send a debt validation letter to the collector

3. Check if the debt has been properly validated

4. Find out what consumers are saying about the debt collector

5. Check if the collection agency has proper address and phone numbers
