got served with default judgement on my maiden name. Is it a good sign since I use my married name now and that's going with all my accounts, taxes etc. Will the collector still be able to continue with garnishments or place liens?

Not a good sign and this doesn't mean you'll be able to bypass the debts. It might involve extra efforts on the part of the collector to garnish wages or place liens. But, that'll happen eventually. And mostly, name doesn't matter that much. They trace you with your SSN primarily.
