Can I settle my debts with a law office? My Capital One debt was sent for collections to a law office in Citrus Heights. They have even validated the debt after getting my debt validation request letter. Now I was wondering if I could settle the debt with them for less than what I owe. Please help!

These days, you can settle with any creditor or law office. Actually, what the present economy says, you're bound to come to a settlement with your creditors in order to pay off your debt burdens. And most lenders or collection agencies accept a settlement offer from the debtors in order to get back at least some portion of the money. Therefore, you could certainly settle your debt for less than what you actually owe!

You can certainly settle your unpaid debts with a law firm. Call and talk to them. Tell them that you're not in a position to pay off the complete amount and if they don't accept your offer, you'll probably file for bankruptcy. This threat might compel them to come to a settement with you.

If they go on rejecting your offers even after the threat of filing bankruptcy, hire the services of a professional debt relief law firm.
