If they bother you too much, you can ask them to cease communication in any form.

Midland Credit has been pestering me for long time about a 5 yr old debt. The SOL for credit card debt in Texas is 4 yrs, so they can't take any legal action against me now. They agreed to that, but still keep calling me for that. How can I wipe it from my credit report and get the creditors off my back?

In addition to Rachel's valuable comments (which are true in all respects), I would like to add some suggestions.

Do not 'reaffirm' the debt in any way, since the SOL clock will restart. If they bother you too much, you can ask them to cease communication in any form. Send it in writing through certified mail with return receipt requested.

Again, just because it has crossed the state specified SOL, it doesn't mean it'll be removed from your credit report. Midland credit can report it as bad debt for 2 more years, since bad debts can be reported for 7 years on CR.

First of all, it's a misconception to think that they can't collect or can't take legal action since SOL has expired. But yes, the SOL expiry allows you the defense in court, in case they sue. And they can continue with collection attempts even on time barred debts.
