A debt collection company reached me 40 days back stating that I owe a debt of $5,063. However, they did not state how the debt originated or what kind of debt it was. What did they send was just an account number which I could hardly recognize. I asked them to validate the debt in a certified mail, but they have not responded yet. If they file a suit against me, will the receipt the validation letter help me?
