I received a warrant for credit card debt. I contacted the creditor to discuss settlement options if any. They offered me a reduced lump sum payment or payment in instalment both. At the end of the discussion they asked me to think about it and get back to them. I called them the next day only to find that my account was placed on hold and they were not able to give me any information then. They just said that they’d get back to me when the account was taken off hold. I just want to carry on the discussion in order to avoid the lawsuit that is impending.

It's only the creditor who can make you aware of the hold kind and no other. What I feel, the creditor is holding up the settlement possibility for the time being and moving forward with the litigation procedures. So I wish you all the luck in court!
