A debt collector can't sue you for a time-barred debt. If they do, then you can assert that the SOL period is over.

I reside in CA and I’m in the military. Recently a debt collector suing me for an old debt, on which the statute of limitations has even expired by 10 months. I believe that the collection agency is manipulating and even breaking the law. I’m trying to defend the lawsuit with the great tool – statute of limitations. Is there any other law that could protect me from this? Am I protected as am actively engaged with the military?

It doesn’t matter whether or not you are in the military, you are protected by the federal laws. File a complaint with the state’s attorney general’s office and assert the statute of limitations as an affirmative defense.
