I have gone through difficult times, but now I’m trying to bring my credit on track. I recently checked my credit report for the purpose and found some old debts on which the SOL is going to expire within a few months. I haven’t been sued for any of the dues yet. Should I try to pay off the balances now or wait for the SOL to expire first?

The debts will eventually drop off from your report after the expiry of the SOL in your state. If you forward any payment now, you’ll be reviving the old debts, and the SOL limit will restart. Wait patiently and don’t make any payments, at least not until any of the creditor files a lawsuit before the SOL gets over.
