I plan to file for bankruptcy. Just wanted to know how long it’ll show up on my report, and from the date of filing or successful discharge?

Bankruptcy shows up on report for a fixed time-period. For Chapter 7, it is 10 years and for Chapter 13, it is 7 years.

The date of discharge is not considered for removal of the negative information from the credit report. The filing date is the date from which the countdown begins.
