Creditor has called me for an old debt. But, the account is not reported on any of my credit reports. How can I make sure it's still valid or the SOL hasn't passed for the account?

Ask the creditor/ collector about the date of your last payment, or if the account has passed the SOL. By law, they're supposed to answer truthfully. However, if they decline or if you still have doubts, you can verify the debt account, mentioning the specific query. For that, you need to send them a debt verification letter in writing. However, there is time limit of 30 days from the time you received the initial notice/letter regarding the debt. They're not supposed to collect till they provide you with proper verification.
