I have had bad times, which dragged on and by the time it was over, I found myself with around $35,000 of credit card debt. I have been paying $1000 for the bills each month and still don't seem to keep up. Considering bankruptcy, - Chapter 13, since I won't qualify for a bk7. But then, will settlement be a good option for me? Both are going to affect credit score. While I get to pay less with a settlement, will bankruptcy be a quicker process to get rid of the debts?
You are right. Settlement can be time consuming. But, still I would ask you to chose settlement over the bk-13. You get to pay less and will have less effect on score. And the bk will stay on your report for 7 years at least. If you still pick bk, first consult an attorney and see what he suggests.
