“Sir, I have a serious problem and desperately need your help! My debts have spiralled beyond my control and I’m bankrupt again. I don’t want to file for another bankruptcy discharge so close.”
So the attorney said: ‘Ok and what do you want me to do?’
She said: ‘I want you to help me in concealing my 3-million worth online trading as well as bank accounts. And also you need to help me transfer my funds via bank deposits, wire transfers and cashier’s check, besides using a shell company to hide my assets. I file my annual tax returns jointly with my spouse and for that you’ve got to under-report my income.’
The attorney thought for a while, and after some silence he said to the lady: ‘I think I can help in a much better way and solve all your problems with as littIle effort as possible. It’d be less dangerous for you.’
She smiled, thinking that the attorney was going to approve of her dubious plan.I’m bankrupt again.
Then he continued: ‘You see, in order for you not to have to take care of your house and children, at a time you’re so financially distressed, let’s put them into some orphanage and short sale your home. This way, you could start shedding off a major part of your responsibilities before the IRS slaps with a slew of bankruptcy and tax fraud charges. If we are going to follow this plan, then your children will already have a good place to live and your house will provide you with some money to pay for your basic living expenses. It doesn’t matter whether you do it now or after both you and your spouse have been sentenced to federal imprisonment for the rest of your lives. At least, your children would know exactly what the future holds for them.’
The lady was terrified and said: “No Sir! How horrific! Its horrible to put my children into an orphanage when both of us are alive and can support them, and render them homeless!”
‘I agree’, the attorney replied. ‘But you seemed to be OK with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.’
The attorney smiled, realizing that he had made his point.
He convinced the lady that there is no difference in killing their children’s future that’s already on the verge of total destruction and one that’s surely to come once the IRS catches upon them. The crime is the same!
