Am I obligated to pay my dad's medical debt in Pennsylvania? He has been recently discharged from the nursing home and doesn't have money to pay it off. The hospital is threatening to sue him.

Unfortunately, you have to pay your dad's medical bill. Let me explain you why.

Pennsylvania uses "filial support law", which means you're responsible to pay off your dad's medical debt even if you haven't signed any papers.

Are you sure the hospital has filed a lawsuit only against your dad? Have they approached you for payments? Just remember one point, the hospital can even sue you for payments.
