I am presently jobless, and have hardly any assets apart from personal stuffs like a television, laptop etc. Can the creditors seize them, if they get a judgment? Aren’t they protected under the exemptions?

Usually, creditors don’t go after personal property like that. There are exemption limits applicable. However, if the worth of your personal items is more than what is exempted, it’s still unlikely that the creditors will go after your personal belongings. That is mainly because the cost of seizure, auction and filing the paperwork raises the cost, which makes it a less practical option.
