Can the irs take my tax refund for student loans?

I had managed to pay off my student loans through an assistance program offered by a corporation. Though the creditor bought back the loan, I defaulted again when I lost my job. I went to the corporation but found the they had already sold the account to a collection agency. If the collection agency don't succeed in garnishing my wages, could they be able to take my tax refund, which I'm expecting on coming week.
