West Virginia Bankruptcy Exemption
Homestead:
Homestead exemption is up to $ 25,000 including a cooperative used as a residence by debtor or a dependent. Automobile: One motor vehicle up to the extent of $ 2,400. Personal Property: Chosen personal property up the extent of $ 800. Household Goods: Furniture, toys, animals, appliances, books and wearing apparel, musical instruments are exempted up to the exempt of $ 8,000 aggregate and $ 400 per item. Life insurance: Accrued interest on any unmatured life interest wherein the insured is the debtor or a person of whom the debtor is dependent are exempted up the extent of $ 8,000. Professional tools: Professional books and tools of trade are exempted up to the extent of $ 1,500. Jewelry: Jewelry held primarily for personal, family is exempted up to the extent of $ 1,000. Personal Injury: Payments on account of personal injury is exempted up to $ 15,000 wherein pain and sufferings are not included.
